in honor of the bard's 445th birthday, we attended alfred university's production of king lear last night.  my butt is still wishing it was the cliff note's version even though the one we saw was supposedly shakespeare's shorter cut.  at 3 hours, it was certainly different - a more modern setting and contemporary costumes.  fortunately, the professor who was playing king lear had the strength for the role.  i'm glad we were not spared the madness.  the king's vicious, father-hating older daughters certainly made me appreciate mine even more.  she would have had a blast designing the costumes.  have a most beautiful weekend.  we are attending hot dog day festivities - who can pass up games, rides, HOT DOGS, arts and crafts!  not i.

i found this photo while searching for a new twitter profile.  it's of me and my two younger brothers circa 1966.  "you're not the boss of me" was my theme song even back then!  you can see that growing up with them was a trial - i had no sisters to balance out the torture.   i miss them.  neither one lives even remotely close to new york!  in the meantime, the winner for  the "we miss mississippi" contest will be picked from dan's pretty hat tonight.  stay tuned...

in less than 3 weeks i head back to mississippi for my daughter's college graduation.  i am excited, over the moon proud, anxious, apprehensive.  things have been a little rough around the edges lately, and i don't want any of that to seep into her extraordinary day.  in the meantime, i am:  glad this show is back on for another season; wanting to move to bath, england because of  her; hoping to start bathroom renovations; wishing for these jeans; listening to her version of  "cry me a river."  omg! and wishing our new favorite greek restaurant wasn't 90 miles away.  i do believe i would order their tzatziki every day.    p.s. - don't forget tuesday is the drawing for the we miss mississippi giveaway contest!  good luck.

in honor of my 2 year blog anniversary (i know, where has the time gone) and in celebration of the lovely kat's three year journey in south mississippi, we are doing an exciting giveaway!  we both want you to share in the festivities.  items include mostly mississippi goodness with a little new york sweetness thrown in for good measure.

am attempting to find grace in small things while pausing life.  here is my list:

1. soaking up the sun.  it is "freaking" 69 degrees today!  if you see a menopausal madwoman running naked through your neighborhood, divert your eyes.
2. laughing (my you know what off) at my husband's idea on how to supplement our unemployed lifestyle:  a metal detector!!
3. coveting spring's most divine, electrifying catalogs from these companies:  sephora,  pottery barn,  ikea,  toast , and fishs eddy .  YUM!
4. listening to her quiet nights. 
5. attending open mic night here!

so, while we await our next destination, here's to counting our blessings (chaotic and otherwise) and sprouting our own dreams!

::playing hooky::

     

• afternoon goodness at our favorite winery.  the artwork on their wine labels is colorful and fun - and the names of their wines alone make you want to buy a bottle (or two)...space shuttle rose, fishmarket white, love my goat red, and fusion.  we came home with several! 

• catching up on this and that - next to lost, they are two of the best shows on television.  we are also anxious to finally see these two movies.  we love netflix! 

• i am also trying to find a new foundation.  i am cursed/jinxed when it comes to buying makeup.  as soon as i find something i love and looks good on my 140 year old skin, the company discontinues it.  perhaps i'll stop wearing makeup altogether and get my eyes done with permanent eyeliner.  yeah, NEEDLES near my eyes!  maybe not.
