never in a million years did i expect that when i dropped my daughter off for her first "official" job as a grown-up (designing costumes for a summer theatre camp) that it would open the floodgates for me! the year...1976. my first "real" job that didn't include babysitting! working at riley's family owned dude ranch in meredith, colorado. i remember i had to take the bus - by myself all the way from albuquerque, new mexico to colorado. the ride felt endless. for three months, i was maid, kitchen help, gopher. but the ranch was in the mountains, 12 miles from aspen, and far, far, far away from my parents! however, i got so homesick that i remember calling them one night sobbing, begging, pleading with them to come get me and let me come home. i was met with a resounding NO. i grew up that summer. i hated my roommate. her name was dawn. but i loved the horseback riding, bonfires, and rock climbing. kisses on the bridge under full moons; talks till wee hours of the morning with an "older" man were bonuses. i always wonder what became of him. seeing robert redford with his two kids in aspen for the very first time and making a total fool of myself - hiding behind postcard racks...stalking him. never brave enough to even ask for his autograph. to this day, i just remember how HOT he was. and still is. i have already received the most hilarious email from my daughter documenting her roommate drama (she inherits that from me), but she's happy, excited, scared...all the things i was way back when. i wouldn't change a thing!! and NO she can't come home!

LOVE it. I always had roommate drama as well. It was usually just silliness but when your in it, it's the worst.
I love hearing about your life. I'm sure Robert Redford would have thought you were adorable. Sometimes it's more fun to be a stalker and keep your little story in your pocket. Pocket stories are the funnest to tell.
p.s. I noticed that you're into Gabriel Byrne. He is on my "sin" list. He is HOT. I hope you have fun visiting with him.
Happy Sunday Dear Lindsey.
love and hugs,
kat

Okay, I can only imagine Robert Redford in his majorly hot days - he's still quite handsome, but oh to have encountered him say in the days of Out of Africa (one of my FAVORITE movies)- be still, my heart!
Love hearing your history. I've been thinking about how little we know of your "back" story - definitely something I want to know more of! Do tell, I pray thee! :)

sam,
it's funny what the mind remembers. robert redford will forever be seared in there! be still my heart, yes! YUM. will work on getting better at telling more personal stories. wish i didn't feel like i was so boring, however. a nun who has taken a vow of poverty seems more exciting than i do right now. ;)
love and hugs

See, that's the thing...believe me, I know how it feels to be boring...the most exciting thing in my life is speculating on the Real Housewives of NJ's psychological issues. But I know you are chock full of stories of adventures in the past, or just stuff that I don't know about you. Honestly. Start with the basics - where do you come from, are you still there, why not, where are you going, where did you intend to go and where did you end up?

Wow, that sounds like an AWESOME first job! Your parents did the right thing by making you stick it out I'm sure--those tough & exciting times help make us who we are.
